Everything Bad is good for you : Games
I agree with the defense of the argument that games are better than books. I don't read for fun and never have. The only time i read is when I'm required to for a class. I don't see games as having no educational benefit. I think people get more out of playing a game than reading a book. Also playing a game is much more entertaining than reading the words from a book. When playing a game a person takes in the sights and sounds displayed on the screen. People say a picture is worth a thousand words, so just playing a game for a minute is like reading a whole shelf full of books. The author says reading books is more challenging than playing a game because of the effort required to make sense of the words and follow the narrative. But some people that play games get way more focused on a game than a book. Its easy to distract someone from a book, all you have to do is talk to them. After that they have to remember where they left off, because they already forgot. I think its more difficult to distract a person from a game because they are too focused on it.
